Case Study for Confidential Global Pharmeceutical Company
Atos Origin’s confidential client is a Fortune 100 global pharmaceutical company with market leading brands in over 140 countries. The company initiated a major initiative of brand promotion via the Internet using marketing websites and promotion portals. the client selected Atos Origin to lead their global content strategy development and package selection processes. Atos Origin delivered a unified CMS system in support of brand marketing.
The project has been ongoing since 2000 with Atos Origin providing full application management and support of the project since inception. The contract value is approximately $3.8 million per year.
Specific project requirements include:
- Serving as liaison with our customer’s creative agencies and brand promotion groups to understand business objectives and create an appropriate project plan
- Working with multiple partners and agencies dispersed across various countries
- Developing content strategy that supports localization
- Ensuring consistency and standardization of publishing processes through a standard user interface
- Undertaking web site development and enhancement
- Designing an information and technical architecture that provides a highly scalable solution
Atos Origin leveraged its global capabilities to establish a Global Web Solution Center (GWSC), comprising customer-facing offices in key customer locations and an off-shore development, hosting and support facility.
The technical solution was comprised of:
- ATG, Tomcat and Jrun Application Servers
- Interwoven Web Content Management System
- Apache, iPlanet and IIS Web servers
- A portal to provide an interactive medium for the consumers
The principal features of the solution included:
- Global brand templates with inherent flexibility to support the necessary localizations
- Tool-based localization using a content matrix
- Reusable components for promotions
- A web portal tool to track service requests, accessed and updated by both the customer and Atos Origin
- Establishment of a “one stop shop” for 12 discrete brands, marketed via more than 70 websites globally
A team of approximately 50 professional, including 3 dedicated graphic designers, provide full-lifecycle services, including:
- Analysis and realization of creative briefs
- Interaction on behalf of the customer with creative agencies, fulfilment houses, and data analysis shops
- Design, development, enhancement and localization of 12 brand websites
- Design, construction, and hosting of the portals
- Provision of Level 2 and 3 application support
- Management and operation of the technical platform
- Gathering and reporting of site utilization metrics
Atos Origin also provides hosting services for many of these portals, featuring the use of existing technologies and processes to support the rollout of the strategy with the lowest possible total cost of ownership.
